SEA SOUNDS SUMMER FESTIVAL 2017: George Dimitrakopoulos – SEPTEMBER 1

The Sea Sounds Summer Festival at Fougaro Beach in Santorini (Saint George) promises memorable music evenings, presenting some of the most acknowledged and popular artists of the native music scene.

         

For its 3rd live event, Sea Sounds Summer Festival welcomes Music Producer & Journalist George Dimitrakopoulos, for an original journey into the sounds of cinematic music and soundtracks.

For this first appearance, George Dimitrakopoulos will present a mix of screenings including cult movies such as The Big Blue – Luc Besson (1988), Life Aquatic – Wes Anderson (2014) or Contempt​ – Jean-Luc Godard​ (1963) with various soundtracks to “marry” two of his favorite habits: music and cinema.

While working as a journalist for one of the most renown papers of the Country (Athens Voice), his love for music has prompted him to deal with music in a number of ways, such as writing the book “The Soundtrack of the City“, which includes 40 interviews by international stage musicians who have appeared in Athens from 2004 to 2010.

As a Music Producer and a DJ, he has opened the concerts of Alexander Robotnick, Chromatics and Maria Minerva in Athens while he has worked as a resident DJ at the Onassis Foundation’s Hytra Restaurant, but also at many thematic parties, such as Street Food and Tunes of “deBop” and club nights of doc.tv and Klik Records. For seven years, he has been the curator of the “Sssh! Silent Moviesaudiovisual project at Bios Roof.

SEA SOUNDS SUMMER FESTIVAL 2017: Irie Action Sound System meets MC Yinka – August 26

On Saturday, August 26, the Sea Sounds Summer Festival hosts its 6th music live show and presents Irie Action Sound System and MC Yinka for an evening dedicated to reggae music at Fougaro beach (St. George, Santorini).

Having as a common base the love for Reggae music and influenced by the tradition of the Soundsystems that characterize the Jamaican Culture, they started in 2005 as URM, and in 2009 they were renamed to Irie Action Sound System with OldJohn, Soundman, K-mood and Nesco as key members.

Irie Action Sound System started by creating their very own small sound system and they quickly managed to appear in bigger music stages and to collaborate with Ranking Joe, Ranking Trevor, Fitta Warri, Earl Zero and Ranking Forest, circulating two vinyls. They have also collaborated with international musicians from Europe and Jamaica such as Uwe Banton, Earl Sixteen, U-Brown, Ras Daniel Ray, Marlene Johnson, Herace Martin, King Shiloh.

MC Yinka is one of the most famous and talented rappers in Greece. He started in 1988 by doing MCing at Drum N ‘Bass Parties with Dj Texture, with whom he would later found the Urban Links. He is a founding member of the hip-hop bands Αδιάσπαστη Ουσία and Παράγοντες, member of Street Buzz, Dr.Votkanini and Imam Baildi and creator of the Urbanix and Fuzics music projects. He has collaborated with well-known Djs as well as with Filippos Pliatsikas on the recording of the album Omnia.

The sound system is set and Irie Action Sound System with MC Yinka are ready to introduce us to the Jamaican tradition through Reggae, Roots, Dub, U.K.Steppers music trails.

SEA SOUNDS SUMMER FESTIVAL 2017: SERAFIM TSOTSONIS – FRIDAY AUGUST 18TH

For the 5th live music event of this edition, the Sea Sounds Summer Festival digs into Classical Electronic sounds with Serafim Tsotsonis performing on Friday, August 18th, at Fougaro Beach (Agios Georgios, Santorini),

No other artist would be more suitable for this event, as Serafim Tsotsonis is one of the most popular new artists of the electronic stage, with intense activity both as a composer and as a producer. He has composed music scores for films, theatrical plays, documentaries, advertisements and remixes for other artists.

Recently, he created the duet Ocean Hope with his sister, Aggeliki, and released their first EP “Chamber Dreams” in the international market, as well as his 4th solo album “She Swims” released by Hush Hush Records of the famous KΕXP-FM radio in Seattle, US.

With special orchestrations and a “marriage” of neoklasikal with ambient, jazz, post rock and dream pop styles, combined with the sounds of the sea, the sounds of nature that he loves to adapt to his tracks, he will offer an unusual musical experience that remains unforgettable.

SEA SOUNDS SUMMER FESTIVAL 2017: NADI RAJ & HINDIGO AND NIKOS TOULIATOS AUGUST 12

The summer meeting of famous and beloved by the Greek audience artists continues at the Sea Sounds Summer Festival, hosted by Fougaro Beach (Agios Georgios, Santorini), and this time it brings sounds from the East with Nadi Raj & Hindigo and Nikos Touliatos performing on Saturday, August 12th.

Nadi Raj was born and raised in Greece by Indian parents. After years of engaging in music and having represented Greece at many international music festivals, winning awards with songs in her own lyrics, she formed the musical scheme HIndigo, with whom she performs since then.

Nikos Touliatos is considered to be the greatest Greek percussion player, as evidenced by his many years of engaging in music, his involvement with different types of music and his collaboration with musicians of the traditional, modern, jazz and international scene. He is the founder of the first school for drums – percussion and jazz music in Greece and the initiator, organizer and artistic director of the international percussion festival in Greece, CROUSSIS.

With this collaboration on stage, Nadi Raj & Hindigo and Nikos Touliatos undertake the duty to offer us a musical journey from the West to the East, approaching modern songs in their own unique way.

SEA SOUNDS SUMMER FESTIVAL 2017: The Cahorn Keys – July 23

The Sea Sounds Summer Festival begins in a few days at Fougaro Beach in Santorini (Saint George) with The Cahorn Keys opening the music festival on July 23rd.

The music band The Cahorn Keys was formed in November 2012 by Alexandra Boti (French horn) and Christina Jackson (percussion set & vocals). They count several live performances in Athens and the province, such as at the Numismatic Museum, The Zoo, Jazz Point, Troubar, La Soiree de Votanique, Cafe Santan etc.

On stage, they are accompanied by Chris Phil (keyboards) and George Marapas (bass guitar) to generate a very specific score, combining different kinds of music genres such as Soul, Funk, RnB including Jazz and a sense of trip-hop.
